Before meeting with Amy my face was awful. It was always red and there were big painful sores, it was not a pretty site. Some people at school had to be mean and of course tease me. It was embarrassing. I kept trying to get my face cleared up but it wasn’t working. I did not know what to do. Treating my face is going to change my life because it will be clear and clean which will build my self confidence up, so that I can be proud of the way I look and not always be worried and ashamed of my face or back or even my chest. It will make me proud of myself to have a face that is not always red and covered in big sores and zits. Now I can say to myself how pretty I am, and now I can have family and friends look at me and say to me “Hey, Sandra your face looks really good!” Inside that will make me feel really good. This is also going to change my life by not letting it get worse in the future, because that would be horrible.
The advice that I would give someone younger than me would be, “Be a leader, not a follower.” I say that because some people in life follow other people because they are friends, or because they are family, or even business partners. When you follow another and don’t do what you want or believe, then you get into situations that are bad, or just not what you want. In school there are always those few kids who will disrespect the teacher because their friend is doing it and they think it is cool and fun. When really deep inside they know it’s not right and you can tell that they don’t really like it. They know better. Sometimes, the person your following will know that they control you and that would lead up to them pressuring you into stealing or doing drugs, or teasing someone. Peer pressure has a lot to do with this. You have to lead your own life to enjoy it, you have to drum your own drum beat, and you have to be confident of yourself before anyone else. “Be a leader…”
